10. The Wounded Wolf Calls for Help
A wolf lying wounded, all haggard and pale,
Saw a sheep walking by looking hardy and hale,
Dear Sheep!
cried the wolf,
Do you see how I bleed?
Just a wee bit of water is all that I need,
If you just bring me drink,
I'll regain all my health,
Then later find something to
eat by myself.
Answered Sheep,
If I bring you some water to drink,
I'll be bringing you dinner as well too, I think.
You'll eat up MYSELF, that's the thing that you'll do!
So I shall reject this petition from you,
Though my heart may go out and
feel true sympathy,
You don't have the mercy you're
asking of me!
