17. A Gluttonous Mouse Gets Trapped in a Box

A mouse, lean and hungry, squeezed into a box
Full of barley and ate like a pig,
Then he tried to get out--but the hole was too small
For a mouse with a stomach so big.

HELP! HELP! screamed the mouse at a weasel nearby,
But the weasel said, Wait awhile, sir,
You can only accomplish such difficult things
When you're hungry and lean like you were.

MORAL: There are some things only hungry people can accomplish.
