37. A Mean Dog Nests in the Manger
The meanest dog there ever was
Went looking for a nest
Where he could sleep by day or night
If he should need a rest.
The horses watched with fearful
eyes
The cruel approaching stranger,
And sure enough, he went to
sleep
Right in the horses' manger.
How MEAN that creature is, they cried,
To spoil our eating shelf!
He'll snap and bite if we come near,
Yet can't eat straw himself.
MORAL: It is heartless to spoil things for others even though you don't want
them yourself.
