8. A Gullible Wolf Is Scared Away
A hungry wolf crept through the woods
One night as quiet as a mouse,
Until he heard a crying child
Within a woodsman's tiny house.
Sweet Babe, don't cry!
he heard them plead,
You've had what sweets we can provide!
Shhh! Please be still! You'll bring the wolf!
PERHAPS A WOLF IS RIGHT OUTSIDE!
The child grew still, turned white with fear,
And mother blushed to use deceit.
The wolf, quite sure that he'd
been seen,
Ran off like he had wings for
feet.
MORAL: Our fears are often foolish.
