25. An Eagle Dies a Bitter Death
An eagle dives from a mountain top
Then over tall green trees it swings,
Exalting in the naked power
Of feathers plied by eagle's
wings
Too late she sees an arrow flash!
It strikes her heart! She feels the sting!
Heartbroken, she notes the arrow's guides
Are feathers dropped from her own wing!
What DOUBLE pain,
the eagle cries!
It's bad enough to wounded be,
But even worse, to think the dart
Was helped by guides supplied by me.
MORAL: We are often our own worst enemy.
