THE XEMA'S DREAM
In case you don't know,
We're a gull white as snow
Except for our hood and our pack,
We're a bit like a skunk
Or an old-fashioned monk
In a robe that's half white and half black.
You, God of the cold,
Gave us hearts that are bold
So we fly to the Arctic to breed,
And although love is slow
When it's 90 below
We have managed somehow to succeed.
We adore the outdoors
When the arctic wind roars
And declares it is time to find mates,
So we fly toward the cold
For we've always been told
That's where joyous communion awaits.
Tell us, God of the Chosen,
Is heaven all frozen
With ice that's as hard as cement?
Just as long as there's love
In that Arctic Above,
We will live there forever content.
