THE ROOSTER'S ROSARY
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be,
I pray and walk the barnyard day and night,
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be,
I tell my beads and pray that all is right.
Our Father starts a Joyful
Mystery,
I walk the fence and then
walk back again,
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory
Be,
So God will bless young pullet,
chick and hen.
Next come the Mysteries Sorrowful and Dark,
With each Ave I'm mourning with the Christ,
While, bishop-like, I stroll with head held high,
So dignity is never sacrificed.
As Glorious Mysteries rise
within my heart,
With open beak I cockle-doodle-do!
Declaring resurrection time
for sleepers,
To rise, as from the dead,
and live anew.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be,
I end my rosary in the dawning light,
One hundred fifty "psalms" that honor Mary,
And keep away the foxes of the night.
