THE CAT'S DOGMA
The one thing I stay faithful to,
The fruit of long research,
Is Dogma! Thank God it is sure:
The Teaching of “the Church.”
Some Liberals, flighty, hair-brained pets,
Give in to every doubt.
They're called so open-minded
That their brains are falling
out.
Not me! I hold the Papal Bulls
Infallible as God!
When bishops sit in council:
Two great dogmas win my nod.
DON’T TRUST THE DOG! (Not thoroughbred,
Nor mutt, nor cur, nor runt!)
WAIT FOR THE MOUSE! (He’ll tiptoe out
And save an irksome hunt.)
These are the dogmas I live by,
My spiritual foundation.
Dogmatic cats live many lives,
Nine’s no exaggeration.
